The Big Give Christmas Challenge – Thank You

The Big Give Christmas Challenge – Thank You

In December 2020, alumni, donors, staff and students donated in Royal Holloway’s Big Give Christmas Challenge. At the conclusion of the week-long campaign, a total of £126,256 had been raised from 268 generous donors, exceeding our target of raising £100,000 within just 32 hours.

The proceeds from 2020’s Big Give Christmas Challenge will help to fund 19 excellence and widening access scholarships. In addition, we will provide much needed support to students who have been seriously impacted by the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic and lockdown restrictions. In the coming year, our aim is to address these issues by focussing on the following key priority areas:

  • Continuing to grow our excellence and widening access scholarships to enable academically able students to study at Royal Holloway, regardless of background or financial situation
  • Supporting students’ mental health and wellbeing
  • Supporting students with careers and employability opportunities to help them identify future career aspirations and prospects.

Hear from two of our scholarship recipients, Melanie and Shaw, in their own words below.

The tremendous success of this campaign and the huge amount raised in such a short amount of time is testament to the inspiring and supportive community that we have both within and around Royal Holloway. Thank you to everyone who supported our challenge. We look forward to sharing further stories about the impact of your support over the next year. For more information about our aims to continue to support our students, please visit Our priorities page.

If you were unable to contribute to our Christmas Challenge, you can still support our remarkable students at any time by making a donation via our secure online donation form or by contacting the Development team. Thank you.
