Biological Sciences student, Anju, shares her "nice-cream" recipe
Chocolate and banana "nice cream" is a recipe that my sister and I love. It's great to enjoy at any time of the day and is a super adaptable recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas (if you want it thicker, add more frozen bananas)
- Chocolate milk (we use soya, but dairy or coconut etc is fine)
- A drizzle of honey/ syrup or agave
- 1 tbsp desiccated coconut (optional)
- A handful of each of your favourite cereals, seeds and /or nuts
- Some fresh or dried fruit e.g. berries, coconut shavings or sliced bananas to top
- Any toppings you fancy: we have been known to use anything from freeze-dried berries to marshmallows!
Method
1) Roughly chop the bananas and add to a blender with your chocolate milk and a drizzle of honey.
2) Add the coconut if you are opting for it - I find that it makes the smoothie taste extra chocolatey!
3) Blend into a thick mousse/ ice-cream consistency.
4) Pour into a bowl and add your toppings - make it a work of art!
5) Dig in!
