Frequently Asked Questions:

  • My seminar time is difficult for me to make, what can I do?
    • If you have a seminar time that affects other courses or your work, and can evidence this, speak to a member of the admin team located in the Katherine Worth Building about the possibility of moving seminar groups.
  • Are powerpoint up on Moodle?
    • On MA1052 they are not, but all handouts are. Part of the skills students must develop is the ability to pay attention and distinguish what is important in the lecture to take notes on. Throughout your studies you will find that some courses put powerpoint and others do not: you must ask individual lecturers.
  • How do I understand the essay question/what’s required?
    • All tutors will have office hours for you to discuss your essay ideas and plans. Please book an appointment with them by email or in class.
  • What reading do I have to do for each week?
    • Moodle is the ‘bible’ for all courses: it sets out what is required for each week’s reading prior to the lecture. In addition, on MA1007 tutors send out a weekly bulletin for students on the BA Film Television & Digital Production to set up weekly tasks - these are also available on Moodle.
  • What can I do if my technical skills need brushing up?
    • Email Keith Buckman to arrange a one-to-one with one of the technical staff, setting out what skill(s) you need support with and Keith will help arrange this for the next available slot.
  • How do I notify the department of absences?
  • If you are unable to attend classes for any reason you must inform the department within 5 days, by completing the notification of absence form.
