Our departmental offering is shaped and taught by active researchers with international reputations. We offer research-led teaching and supervision, reflecting our expertise across languages and disciplines. Our students come from around the world and explore not only the language but also the culture and history of France and Francophone countries, Germany and Austria, Italy, Latin America and Spain.

At postgraduate level, we offer a Masters by Research. This flexible programme allows you to undertake in-depth study (full- or part-time) on key areas of literature, visual or cultural studies. Whilst exploring your area of interest, you will receive a tailor-made research-focused taught module, equipping you with a sophisticated array of theoretical and historical approaches to your study.
