Applications are now open for the Royal Holloway University of London Concerto Competition 2025.
Organised and adjudicated by our Director of Orchestras, Rebecca Miller, and Director of Performance, Dr Mary Dullea, this competition seeks an outstanding performer to feature in the International Concert Series 2025-26 by performing alongside one of our orchestras at Royal Holloway under the direction of Rebecca Miller. So, whether you are preparing a concerto in your instrumental lessons or for examination, or have a solo work usually performed with orchestra (e.g. a solo cantata) in your repertoire, we would love to hear from you.
This opportunity is open to current student enrolled at Royal Holloway University of London, inclusive of students who graduate in the 2025 cohort.
To apply, please fill in the form below (scroll to the bottom of the page) by 12:00pm on Thursday, 15 May 2025. A schedule of auditions will be drawn up and the Auditions Day will be held on Wednesday, 21 May 2025.
Audition requirements
Please save the date of Wednesday, 21 May 2025 in your diary for the Audition Day. The auditions will take place between 10.00am and 4.00pm in Wettons Terrace Room 0-01.
An audition schedule will be created and this will be sent to applicants on Thursday, 16 May 2025.
For the audition, you will need supply yourself with an accompanist. It is preferred that you audition with an accompanist, however it also fine to audition by yourself.
Auditions are open to both instrumental and vocal students, who are currently enrolled at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Please prepare between 8-10 minutes to perform in the audition. This could be a full movement, section of a movement or a selection of excerpts that the applicant feels best represents their performance of the work.
Dependent on the scoring of your submitted work and if you are successful at audition, the panel will assess whether you will be performing with either the Royal Holloway Chamber Orchestra or Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra in the 2025-26 International Concert Series.
Please audition with the piece you have submitted on the Application Form, intend to win the Concerto Competition with and eventually perform with orchestra. You will not be considered if you audition with an alternate piece.
