We are pleased to welcome to the department three new lecturers in philosophy.

Dr John Sellars

Dr G. Anthony Bruno earned his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Toronto (2013) and has since been an SSHRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at McGill University (2016-18), a Faculty Lecturer at the University of Toronto Scarborough (2015-16), and an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bonn (2013-15).  His research focuses on metaphysics and epistemology in Kant, German idealism, and phenomenology.  He is also interested in the legacy of early modern philosophy and the contemporary reception of Kantian and post-Kantian thought.  Anthony will be joining the department in January 2018.

Dr John Sellars has published on ancient, renaissance, and early modern philosophy, and worked in particular on ancient Stoicism and its later reception. He is especially interested in metaphilosophy and the notion of philosophy as a way of life in philosophies from Socrates to Foucault.  John has previously taught at the University of the West of England and Birkbeck and has been involved in the Ancient Commentators on Aristotle project at King's College London.  John will be joining the department in September 2017.

Dr Daniel Whistler was previously a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at Liverpool, and completed my DPhil in 2011 at the University of Oxford on F.W.J. Schelling's theory of language and its theological implications.  His research can be split into history of philosophy—particularly German Idealism, its origins and aftermath—and continental philosophy of religion.  Daniel will be joining the department in September 2017 but spending September to June 2018 at th
