The campus offers a variety of places to explore, whether you want to study in peace, socialise with friends, relax in comfort or get active. Take a look at what’s on offer.
Studying
The modern library in the Emily Wilding Davison Building has more than 600,000 volumes, and subscribes to 40,000 print and online journals. It’s open 24/7 nearly all year round, with 1,150 seats in different zones for silent or collaborative work.
The Victorian reading room, in the Founder’s Building, is also a study space
PC labs, most of them 24-hour, are dotted around campus and in the Computer Centre. They have a wide range of software. Wi-Fi is everywhere.
Each academic department has its own study facilities.
Socialising
The Students’ Union stages events for students to gather and party. The main function space, the Students' Union Main Hall, hosts at least two events per week - and there’s Tommy's Kitchen, Medicine,Stumble Out and The Packhorse, each with their own flavour.
There are 11 places to eat and drink on main campus, and a further two in Kingswood (unavailable for 2023 entry).
There are clubs and societies for everyone, and a thriving scene whatever you fancy doing, on and off campus.
Banking
We have a branch of Santander on campus, with a counter service, and there are two other cashpoints.
Other banks and building societies have branches in the local town of Egham.
Shopping
The Union Shop, managed by the The Students' Union, is open throughout the year for groceries, frozen and chilled food, wines and beers and toiletries.
John Smith's runs a dedicated online bookshop for Royal Holloway staff and students.
Sports
The hub of sporting life is the Sports Centre on the main campus. Refurbished in 2013, it provides a multi-use sports hall, a 46-station fitness suite, aerobics area and changing facilities. There’s personal training and fitness classes.
We recently unveiled our world-class, floodlit outdoor pitches and courts, with all-weather playing surfaces.
