About the composer

Finalist undergraduate student, studying Music with French at Royal Holloway, Patrick Deeley (b. 2000) specialises in performance and composition. His most recent release, Trois Souvenirs de Paris, is a multi-movement piano suite reflecting on a trip to Paris in April 2019.

Guided by the expertise of composers Tom Parkinson, Nina Whiteman and Mark Bowden, Patrick developed an interest in composing piano and film music. Under Royal Holloway's degree programme, he has also composed four-part chorales, small ensemble music and orchestral scores. Influenced by his Impressionist and Romantic piano repertoire, including music by Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and John Ireland, Patrick's compositional style is contemporary and idiosyncratic. Using technology in his work, he is notable for experimenting in the digital soundscape.

From September 2021, Patrick will be teaching Music and Music Technology at The Sweyne Park School, Rayleigh.
