Archives and Special collections provide an invaluable teaching and learning resource which supports the University’s teaching programme.
We regularly welcome group and individual visits by students and staff, including introductory and skills-based sessions. These involve hands-on use of our archive documents designed for specific courses or modules and are available for all levels. We already work with colleagues within History, English and Geography departments, and are keen to expand use of archives and special collections into further disciplines.
Examples of our teaching include:
-
introductory sessions where students find out about the collections and resources available to consult
-
sessions focused on Women's history including the campaign for female Suffrage
-
theatre and performance related collections
-
sessions focussed on specific texts within our rare books collection
Academics who think their students might benefit are encouraged to contact the archive to find out more about teaching opportunities relating to our fascinating archive collections.
