College Collections Uncovered explores student experience. How have parties, politics, perceptions, and people changed across 170+ years of student life at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College? From diaries to magazines, photographs to paintings, and even furniture, our College collections offer unique insights into processes of social change and points of connection between past and present. Who are we now? Who were we then? What makes us unique? What unites us?
Four undergraduate students on placement with the College’s Culture Team co-curated this exhibition. They were introduced hands-on to archival work and pursued research projects using the collections. They focused on aspects of student experience, historic and contemporary, that highlight themes of continuity and change. The collections they uncovered put a spotlight on our heritage as Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, the issues we care about, and how they continue to shape who we are today.
This exhibition ran from 21 November 2022 - 31 May 2023 in the Davison Building Exhibition Space.
