We are always looking to support our colleagues in schools. In the build-up to exams, Richard Alston gave a talk on the Augustan constitution to sixth formers in Huddersfield.

Jodie Reynolds, Head of Classics at Greenhead College writes.

We are a state sixth form college in West Yorkshire. We launched Classical Civilisation as an A Level option in 2021 and we have over 100 students currently studying with us. As part of our preparation for this summer's exams we have put together a revision programme which includes a number of talks generously offered by academics in Universities. Royal Holloway has been fantastic in offering their time and expertise, really helping students to focus upon the more conceptual parts of the subject. Richard very kindly gave us a fabulous talk on Augustus and the Restoration of the Republic, which has helped students to understand that they must drill down into the meaning of 'res publica' in order to answer essay questions on this.

We offer a range of school talks, so please get in touch! For more information, please write directly to the member of staff offering a particular title or topic, or the Classics Department’s Undergraduate Recruitment Lead, Dr Richard Hawley (Richard.Hawley@rhul.ac.uk).

We also offer a variety of other resources for schools through our Classics Schools and Outreach Hub.
