Royal Holloway is the lead member of the Techne Doctoral Training Partnership, which offers Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) studentships, funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
2025/2026 Techne Collaborative Doctoral Awards:
Economic Botany and the Chinese Maritime Customs Service
The studentship will focus on archive, specimen, illustration, and artefact collections at RBG Kew and publications and archival materials of Chinese Maritime Custom Service, as well as material from archives elsewhere in the UK and China. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work across academic, heritage, and archival contexts.
Black British History, Inclusive Teaching, and Curriculum Reform
The studentship will contribute to the fields of Black British History and Public History and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in these fields in academic, heritage and educational contexts.
