Sustainability Strategy

Sustainability Strategy

As a College, we recognise that the world faces a climate emergency.

In our Strategy, we set out our ambition to be change agents and not just stand by. We recognise the responsibility we have as educators to lead on Environmental Sustainability, and the ripple-effect of our impact on not just our students, but also our wider society. We believe strong leadership here aligns with our College’s purpose, reflects our founding ethos, and speaks to Thomas Holloway’s enduring commitment to his College meeting the needs of our modern times.

Key to our strategy is using our expertise in Research and Education to encourage, equip and empower our students and staff to be leaders in Environmental Sustainability. We will target our collective intellectual capacity on the most pressing Environmental Sustainability challenges and form powerful collaborations with partners to maximise our influence and impact.

We will support our students in their leadership on Environmental Sustainability.  We will invest in our students to create and achieve our shared vision for Environmental Sustainability. We will also facilitate community engagement and learning on Environmental Sustainability.

We will manage our operations with care. We will reduce our energy use and our emissions, enhance biodiversity, promote environmentally and socially responsible transport and travel, and pursue ethical procurement and investment strategies. We will do this by responsible management of our operations, and through our actions as custodians of our parkland estate. In so doing, we will achieve ambitious targets for the efficient and cost effect management of our resources and waste.

The Sustainability Strategy gives us the framework to articulate both what we are already delivering, alongside our targets and aspirations, and this is particularly important for our reputation and our student recruitment.
