The department’s elemental analysis suite is equipped with an Agilent 5900 ICP-OES installed in March 2024. The ICP-OES is used to analyse elemental concentrations in waters and digested solids and has a detection limit of ~1 ppb. The laboratory is also equipped with an Elementar Cube Elemental Analyser for the quantification of carbon, nitrogen and sulfur abundances in organic and inorganic solids.
