Welcome to the Electronic Engineering Applicant Activity Hub!
Our whole department is excited to get to know you. We have put together these resources to help you get to know us before joining us in September. Below you will find a range of different activities looking at how and why we build our degrees around creativity, showing what our students can achieve and exploring how you can start creating today. We hope you enjoy them as a way to offer you some inspiration during the summer and to help you to start thinking like one of our students.
We look forward to welcoming you at Royal Holloway very soon!
Inspiring our students to achieve their best
Dr Onyema Nduka explains his approach to teaching and his ambition to help students achieve their goals to make a difference in the world.
IET accredited degrees
As a young department, we are delighted that all of our Electronic Engineering BEng and MEng degrees (with and without a year in industry) have received full accreditation by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
IET accreditation involves a thorough assessment of our laboratory facilities, industrial influence, teaching curriculum and learning outcomes to ensure they meet the highest, internationally defined standards of quality and academic rigour.
Accredited status means that graduates of Royal Holloway’s BEng and MEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering degrees fulfill the educational requirements for registering as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) following a few years of employment. It's reassuring to know that our degrees are acknowledged as being appropriate for the training of tomorrow’s chartered engineers; something we are very proud of and firmly believe in.
Our students say ....
-
Electronic Engineering is a dynamic and diverse community of undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff with a real sense of camaraderie between staff and students.
The high levels of satisfaction from our students are reflected in the latest league tables, where our department is ranked 1st for student experience and 1st for teaching quality in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, 2024. We are also placed 1st for student satisfaction and 1st for student continuation in the Complete University Guide, 2024.
In summer 2023 we received the results of our student feedback in the latest National Student Survey (NSS), revealing positive feedback in key areas. Highlights include:
- 100% students said they can access specific equipment and facilities for their course
- 94% students said marking and assessment has been fair
- 94% students said IT resources and facilities have supported my learning well

Engineering at your fingertips today!
Engineering is about creating things, and you can start today! Why not learn how to create 3D printable objects or explore sounds and hearing with the lab below?
This free online app by Autodesk can be used for designing 3d models, electronic circuits and code. Just sign in, open the ‘learn’ link, and select one of the many tutorials available under the ‘3d’, ‘circuits’ or ‘code’ sections.
This is an interactive lab session “Hear here”, aptly named as it provides a way to create sounds here on your computer that you can then hear allowing you to explore aspects of your hearing!
