Media Arts - Admission Hub

Hello and welcome to the Department of Media Arts at Royal Holloway University London.

Congratulations on your offer to study here - we’re very much looking forward to meeting you in the new academic year.

Whichever course you are coming here to study, you can check out our award-winning teaching staff here, our degrees and facilities here and our fantastic student work and alumni here. If there are any unanswered questions, don’t hesitate to drop us an email. For now, we wanted to give you a taster of the kind of innovative creative and academic work you’ll be doing when you join us in September, so we’ve set a series of mini-challenges for our future undergraduates to take on this summer!

Our students create podcasts, films, videogames, social media channels, animations, digital festivals, art installations and academic work of the highest international standard. Below you’ll find a series of “briefing documents” setting you a set of challenges that cover just some of the areas you’ll have the opportunity to investigate here. Of course, none of these tasks are compulsory – they’re just here to give you an idea of some of the possible areas you’ll be exploring over the next three years. At the end of each document you’ll find an email address for one of our Lecturers in Media Arts, and we’d love to hear from you if you want to share your work, or ask us any questions.

For students on our BA/BSc in Digital Media Culture and Technology, you might like to try creating your very own digital festival plan:

We hope you enjoy our challenges, and that they give you a taste of the exciting work we’ll be doing together in the coming years. We cant wait to meet you when the academic year begins and we can get to work.
