Vicky Hossack, Interim Chief Executive of Royal Holloway Students’ Union, would like to take this opportunity to inform local residents about the Freshers’ Ball:

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome students back to the Royal Holloway campus in September and will be launching our events programme on Friday 15 September. Further to feedback received throughout the year, we are continuing to deliver the majority of our events within our buildings, with the only outdoor event being Freshers’ Ball which will be hosted outside the Students’ Union Building. Our Freshers’ Ball will take place on Saturday 23 September. The event features outdoor music performances which will be contained within outdoor structures and masked by existing buildings to reduce risk of noise disturbance. The event will commence at 8pm with a curfew of 2am.

“As with any event of this type, we will be liaising with our partners at Runnymede Borough Council to ensure that any noise disturbance is kept to a minimum. Our events team will conduct regular sound monitoring throughout the local area over the course of the week, sharing the data captured with our independent noise consultants and liaising with the Council’s environmental health team to minimise the impact on the local community.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the residents’ associations of both Egham and Englefield Green for their continued understanding and apologise if this annual event impacts anyone’s evening.”
