Earlier this academic year, Professor Julie Sanders, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Royal Holloway, University of London visited the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and the University of Arts Singapore (UAS), in which NAFA is a founding member.

The visit took place following a previous visit to Royal Holloway’s Egham campus by Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in February 2023. Professor Sanders was joined by our Director of Global Engagement, Lucy Thomas.

During the visit, Julie and Lucy celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with both NAFA and UAS. They also visited the NAFA campus in Singapore where they were met by UAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kwok, and the President of NAFA - Tan-Soh Wai Lan.

The pair were given a tour of the facilities, a chance to see some fantastic public engagement artworks and exhibitions, and discussed future opportunities for collaboration, across a variety of Royal Holloway academic areas and strengths including culture and creativity and new technologies as well as student and colleague exchange.

Professor Julie Sanders said the following:

“Visiting both Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Arts Singapore was an excellent opportunity to see and discuss the ways in which outstanding and innovative higher education is being delivered by our global partners.

“In visiting these Universities, we recognised the same passion and enthusiasm for creative thinking and innovative research with social purpose that motivates and inspires us at Royal Holloway. In signing this Memorandum of Understanding, we are formally recognising that we share values and ambition around education and research.”
