Special guest Vicky Featherstone (Artistic Director, Royal Court Theatre) kindly agreed to attend the launch and took part in a platform discussion with Professor Dan Rebellato. This was followed by a drinks reception.
Vicky Featherstone has been Artistic Director of the Royal Court since 2013. Prior to that, she was the founding Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the National Theatre of Scotland (2006-2013) and of the powerhouse new writing and touring company, Paines Plough (1997-2004). Her landmark directing credits include Sarah Kane’s Crave (Traverse Theatre and tour, 1998), David Greig’s The Cosmonaut’s Last Message to the Woman He Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union(Ustinov Studio, Bath, and tour, 1999), Gary Owen’s The Drowned World (Birmingham Rep and tour, 2003), Enda Walsh’s The Small Things (Menier Chocolate Factory, 2005), Friedrich Schiller’s Mary Stuart (Citizens Theatre, 2006), Abi Morgan’s 27 (National Theatre of Scotland and Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh, 2011), Dennis Kelly’s The Ritual Slaughter of George Mastromas (Royal Court, 2013), and Lee Hall’s barnstorming adaptation of Alan Warner’s The Sopranos – Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour (NTS and Live Theatre, 2015).
