Theatre's New Realities event

Theatre’s New Realities 15 - 16 July a seminar and Open Space

What does it mean to think about Augmented and Virtual Reality in the context of theatre?

AR and VR is becoming increasingly used in theatre, but we are only beginning to explore their potential for audience participation, co-creation of experiences, and sociability. This event brings together cutting-edge artists, IT experts, representatives of cultural institutions, gamers, and academics to share knowledge, ideas, and insights into the opportunities and challenges of developing AR and VR as media for performance.

Theatre’s New Realities takes place across two days, including a seminar with panels and an interactive presentation on 15 July, and Open Space discussions curated by Improbable theatre company on 16 July. The performances, by CREW and Lightwork, commissioned by Theatre’s New Realities, can be accessed from 13 July.

The Seminar can be accessed on YouTube. Open Space discussions and virtual performances can be accessed on Zoom. The event is free and open to all wherever you are.
