Tell us a little bit about your studies at Royal Holloway
Course Studied: BSc Financial and Business Economics (2017-2020), MSc Finance (2020-2021)
Why did you choose to study Economics at Royal Holloway and what did you enjoy most about your course?
Beautiful campus, easy to get around, and all student accommodation was near (makes a difference to attendance of 9am lectures). Far more interesting module choices here than elsewhere.
How was your personal experience of being part of the Economics community as a close-knit group of staff and students?
Royal Holloway was great in that I found the lecturers made a lot of time for you as an individual provided that you made time for them (ask questions on assignments early and attend their seminars). I found that many of my old lecturers were helpful when I reached out with questions before my finals.
Tell us about your career journey since graduating and what you do now.
I now work in London as an Operations Analyst for a boutique asset/wealth management firm.
What are your top tips for students thinking about a career in your line of work/study?
Choose all of the data analysis and coding modules offered by the Uni because 90+% of the theory and statistics we learn will need to be implemented on a computer. In the same way as a good idea needs to be articulated on paper for it to be implemented, the same is true for statistical knowledge with computer literacy and this tells very quickly during interviews and early on in the job.
