In what ways did some Germans choose to resist Nazi Policies under the Third Reich?
In order to make the poster easily accessible, I chose to keep it quite neutral. By keeping the background white and the text black, the information is clearly displayed as the two colours contrast nicely. Rather than opting to make each box identifiable with their own colour, I chose to outline them with a colour scheme. This showed a unity to all the boxes as there was a mix of factors that defined resistance, rather than each factor being an independent way used by resisters. The colour scheme I chose to use was black, yellow and red to correspond with Germany’s flag. Although that may be a simple approach, it ties together the poster neatly without going over the top by making it harsh to look at. Considering that some people may struggle to see certain colours, I did not want to rely on particular colours to convey my points so chose to keep it simple yet effective.
Putting coloured boxes around the text helped in distinguishing points from one another. Without the boxes, the text was spotted around the page and it was harder to tell what information was relevant to what and where each point ended. Keeping the actual box white prevented the page from looking messy whilst the coloured outlines broke up the page well into sections. Throughout the poster, certain words have been made bold in order to draw attention there. Most commonly, it is the groups that used the ways mentioned that have been emphasised to showcase the variety of methods they used across each of the factors. Examples of how these groups acted have also been made bold to draw attention to important aspects of the way in which they resisted.
I used arrows to properly indicate how each box tied into the overall poster. How the 4 main groups (Aryans, Ethnic minorities, Military and the Youth) are explored is in relation to how they chose to resist. Rather than listing what was discovered about each group and their methods, I wanted to present the different forms of resistance (passive, active, private and public) and how they intertwined between groups as resisters used a combination of these ways rather than just one solid structure.
I tried to limit how many words I used to communicate my research to the viewer so not to overwhelm them which could be confusing. Avoiding cramming meant I had to keep the points clear and succinct, although it was difficult to reduce my research into few words it was helpful to conclude what was important in my work.
