Nina Whiteman appointed as Lecturer in Composition

The Department of Music is delighted to announce the addition of Dr Nina Whiteman to its composition staff.

Nina’s music has been performed widely in the UK and abroad, by ensembles including Manchester CamerataPsapphaQuatuor Danel, and accordion duo TOEAC. A 2016 commission from the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (The map of days outworn) was premiered at the Bridgewater Hall and broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Her music features instrumental and vocal writing as well as electroacoustic sound and multimedia performance. 

Nina is also a singer specialising in the performance of new work and improvisation. She is Artistic Director of Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera and Trio Atem

Nina joins Royal Holloway having previously taught at the University of Manchester, Royal Northern College of Music, and Lancaster University.
