The Department of Music are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Tom Jesty to the post of Graduate Fellow in Collaborative Piano

This specialist post will support the broader music performance remit at the university, by accompanying singers and instrumentalists in classes, examinations and performance; coaching our students; gaining  experience as a Graduate Fellow, as a tutor and a working collaborative pianist; continuing training and professional development through tuition and guidance from Director of Performance, Prof. Mary Dullea. 

About Tom Jesty

Tom went on to study music at St Peter's college Oxford as a choral scholar, and performed Beethoven's fourth piano concerto with the college orchestra. It was during this time that Tom also discovered the joy of accompaniment. Tom went on to work as a piano teacher and accompanist in Winchester, before moving to London in 2021 to study for a masters in piano accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which he gained with distinction in 2023. Tom has just completed a junior fellowship at the Guildhall, where he studied with Pamela Lidiard and Iain Burnside. Tom draws on his choral experience acting as accompanist for the City Chamber Choir, directed by Stephen Jones, and the Hampshire Youth Choirs, directed by Kerry Kenward and Andrew Hayman. Tom also works as music director at St Mary's church in Islington, and is a member of the Guildhall Session Singers, a jazz choir directed by Clare Wheeler. Tom is excited to be taking up the post of Graduate Fellow in Collaborative Piano at Royal Holloway University this academic year.
