Selected as part of the 2019 Picture Gallery Composer-in-Residence scheme.
Andrew Moore is a composer, arranger and conductor from Northern Ireland. Andrews compositional journey began aged thirteen when he started writing for the piano. Since then he has performed various piano compositions in Ballyclare high school and around Northern Ireland. Alongside the piano Andrew loves to write for the voice and larger ensembles and was commissioned to compose The Mournes for the EA Youth Orchestra. Similarly, he was commissioned to write an electronic choral fusion piece (Don’t Cry) for his school choir in 2017. Since coming to England in 2017 Andrew has written for the RHUL Shakespeare society, the RHUL history department and the Choir of Royal Holloway. With a keen interest in composition for media Andrew has undertaken work experience with ScoreDrawMusic where he composed for kid’s shows, advertisements and I worked on sound design for a BBC programme, ‘Cops on the Front Line.’ Other compositional highlights include three pieces (The lamb, Ani Ma’amin and Empty Seats) being workshopped and recorded by the National Youth Choir of Great Britain and regular writing for students. With an aim to always say something in his music Andrew often reflects on his home and the social and political tensions, often using music as his voice and vehicle for reflection. He is incredibly excited to be involved in the Picture Gallery Composer in Residence Scheme and can’t wait to work with the Choir of Royal Holloway.
