PGCR 2019: Mollie Carlyle
Currently studying Music and Philosophy, Mollie Carlyle became interested in composition at a very young age- writing, performing and conducting her works in concerts throughout her academic career. While enjoying the opportunity to learn about modern compositional techniques under distinguished composers such as John Traill, Nina Whiteman, Aaron Holloway-Nahum and Samantha Fernando, Mollie has a tendency to write what she loves: from a trio of Spanish dances for the piano to her passion for sea-shanties- compiling and publishing a book of sailing tunes for the penny whistle last year to high demand. Most recently, though, Mollie has become interested in the works of Monteverdi, having sung the solo second soprano part in the Monteverdi Sestinas under the direction of Tim Travers-Brown, and so is particularly excited to be able to work with the chapel choir on this project.
Mollie's portfolio of work includes the musical, Asylum, which she hopes to bring to the stage in the next few years, as well as numerous short works for piano, pennywhistle, flute, cello and voice.
