Dr. Eugenio Vaccari invited to speak at a YANIL Virtual Event

  • Date24 Jun 2021
  • Time 3.00 pm - 4.00 pm BST
  • Category Conference

YANIL is a European organisation of early career researchers in insolvency

YANIL is a branch of the INSOL Europe Academic Forum which brings together postgraduate students, PhD candidates, early career academics and young professionals with an interest in academic research in the field of insolvency law. YANIL is chaired by Mr. Gert-Jan Boon, a lecturer and researcher in the Law School at Leiden University (The Netherlands).

In order to promote an ongoing dialogue on topical issues in insolvency and rescue law, YANIL organises virtual coffee breaks, which are held every other month. On 24 June 2021, Dr. Eugenio Vaccari (lecturer - Royal Holloway, University of London) was invited to speak with Prof. Jessica Schmidt (professor - Bayreuth Universitat) on the topic of preventive restructuring proceedings, and cross-border recognition of their effects across and beyond Europe.

Dr. Vaccari and Prof. Schmidt will discuss recent regulatory changes occurred in the past year at the European and national level (see programme here). Some of these changes were triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the majority of them are a response to the implementation of the Preventive Restructuring Directive. They will also discuss how the environment has become more challenging and complex by reason of the UK's withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit).

The event is free and is held online. To join the event, please send an email to Mr. Gert-Jan Boon at yanil@insol-europe.org. For more information on the activity of the group, you can follow it on Twitter (@InsolYanil) and LinkedIn
