Orchestras at Royal Holloway: Audition Excerpts

As part of your orchestral audition, applicants will be asked to perform 3-5 minutes of a work of their choice (unaccompanied) and will be asked to play-through a short orchestral excerpt which has been prepared by the candidate. This is not to be a scary process, but one that allows our selection panel an insight into what stage of your musical journey you are.

This audition process is very similar to what musicians will experience in the wider industry, as a way of preparing you for the future.
